Some parents are really getting outraged over a school uniform policy that apparently led to student lockers seriously getting raided. Pupils of Ryders Hayes School, located in Pesall, Walsall, have been instructed by school officials to have bags, coats, and PE kits that have school logos on them. The reason for this has been stated as health and safety.
However, a number of parents are saying that the extra costs are too burdensome. It’s an extra 50 pounds on top of the standard school uniforms, and so some families are just refusing to buy their kids these items.
On top of this, a number of parents are claiming that teachers in the school have been humiliating students by making them stand up during class to explain to everyone why they’re not in the proper uniform. Other parents are alleging that their kids are being threatened with being sent home or even expelled.
Tammy Fulford of Rushall is one such parent; she has six kids of her own as well as several foster kids. She’s been sending children from her home to Ryders Hayes for more than a decade.
However, she’s now chosen to send the youngest twins in her family to another school and is working to send another young daughter to a different school. She says if she had to buy the extras for her twins and daughter, it would cost her 150 pounds that she needs to put towards other things.
