Her Bedroom Dresser Was In Need Of A Makeover, So She Bought A Poster…?

If you’re like me, your furniture is bland and boring and could use a bit of an overhaul.

I’ve never really taken the opportunity to try and revamp my bedroom because my artistic abilities are that of a three-year-old. I also don’t have an infinite influx of cash to begin more elaborate DIY projects I see posted all over the internet (and I certainly don’t have the money to purchase new furniture after I royally screw up).

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); });

But Debi from Debi’s Design Diary is here to show us that transforming your bedroom dresser is a lot cheaper than you might think. Using just a $7 poster and some Mod Podge, you can turn your furniture from drab to fab.

First, she bought two of these Marilyn Monroe posters.

Knowing she wanted to paint her dresser a fun color, she chose this bright mix.

Then, she measured and cut the poster up to match the size of each drawer.

But after gluing the big pieces on resulted in tons of air bubbles, she tried something else. This time, she cut out Marilyn’s silhouette.

She made sure to mark out where she wanted it to sit on the dresser before decoupaging.

She painted the Mod Podge on in small increments, making sure to smooth each part out and get rid of air bubbles.

Then, she added another layer of Mod Podge on top for protection.

Check out how it all turned out here!

I think I could handle this DIY project. It’s basically just cutting and gluing!
