With cards like Reno Jackson and Brann Bronzebeard,League of Explorers is opening up new types of decks in Hearthstone.
So-called’Highlander’ decks only use single copies of cards, making use of Reno Jackson’s ability to heal to full health when those conditions are present. Meanwhile, decks like Malylock are making a comeback thanks to Brann’s powerful duplication of battlecry effects.
After this week’s latest release of a new wing in the expansion, however, players are bracing themselves for an onslaught of murlocs.
Anyfin Can Happen, a ten-mana Paladin card that summons seven murlocs that died that game, is already seeing play. World Championship semi-finalist Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk played the deck to rank five legend with a combo one turn kill style, winning twice as many games as he lost.
Elsewhere, aggressive board flood Murloc Shaman will likely also see play. Everyfin is Awesome, a card which buffs all your minions and costs one less for each murloc you control, and the zero-mana Murloc Tinyfin have given that deck the potential to establish unbeatable early game board presence.
So if your experimentation with Reno Priest is ruined by aggro Murloc Shaman, you have our sympathies. Pray the deck doesn’t turn out to be that good and things might go back to normal in a few weeks.
